General weather Overview
The country is much farther from the equator than Central Europe.
This means that winter days in Finland are much darker, colder, and also shorter. The country is
subject to a cold polar climate. In the colder months and depending on the region, the monthly
average temperature drops to as low as minus one degree. In Helsinki, summers are pleasant and
partly cloudy and winters are long, icy, snowy, windy, and mostly cloudy.
