General weather Overview
Armenia has a continental climate due to its location in a temperate
climate zone. The summer months in the northern hemisphere are not only warmer but also
longer. Because it is a mountainous country, average daily temperatures can range from frigid to
minus degrees to hot and near insufferable heat, depending on the season and area.

- The national symbol of the country is Mt. Ararat. But Mt. Ararat's location is actually in Turkey. Though, while it may actually be inside of Turkey, the Armenians get an outstanding view of it. The view of it is said to be the best near Khor Virap
- Chess is a national sport. Armenians are known to be great at chess. Some of the best players come from Armenia and the country has won numerous international tournaments. There is a reason why Armenia is so strong at this sport. Chess is a compulsory subject in almost all schools, and children from 7 years of age learn to play it
- The world record for the “longest double-track non-stop cable car” is held by “Wings of Tatev”, which is located in a beautiful mountain village in southern Armenia. The total length of the cable car is 5.7 km (3.5 miles) and the highest point is 320 meters above the river gorge

- Due to the mountainous terrain and favorable climate, Armenia is a great place for extreme sports. It is a popular country for scenic paragliding. Other activities include trekking and hiking or climbing. In winter, the country offers excellent conditions for ski and snowboard lovers
- Don't miss out on mouthwatering local dishes! Armenian cuisine is the oldest in the South Caucasus and throughout Europe. Their environment and the wealth of their land have blessed them with an abundance of herbs, spices, and wildflowers, which Armenians deliciously incorporate into their cuisine
