General weather Overview
France has a variety of climatic zones stretching from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean. In the
northwest, you can find a temperate maritime climate with pleasant winters and only moderately
warm summers. In the east, far from the Atlantic coast, a continental climate prevails with
occasionally intense winters. Winters are the hottest on the Mediterranean coast. Summers often
vary, but are mostly hot and dry, with little rainfall.
