- The result of continuous tectonic movements created what we know today as Seychelles and the surrounding Indian Ocean. Seychelles consists of 73 coral islands and 42 inland islands including Mahé and Praslin, which are made of granite. These 42 additions to the archipelago are the only islands in the world that do not feature coral or volcanic elements. Granite cliffs abound on many of the island's inner beaches and bring an allure that has earned Seychelles its label as one of the world's most fascinating destinations
- A fruit, only found on two of the islands of the archipelago, can weigh between 15 and 30 kg, while the largest coco de Mer fruit has been measured at 42 kg. The Vallée de Mai on the island of Praslin shelters 400 of these coco de Mer palms and is recognized by the Seychellois as a treasured symbol. This giant fruit used to cost about 6000 Seychellois rupees (around 400 US dollars)
- Many celebrities choose to vacation on the iconic island and enjoy the privacy it has to offer. Prince William and Kate Middleton, now the Duchess of Cambridge, honeymooned on the north island of Seychelles, a location previously chosen by David and Victoria Beckham
