General weather Overview
The climate of the United States’ 50 states is diverse. The north has
an arctic climate all year, while the middle has a combination of continental and subtropical
climates. It travels from Alaska, where it is cold and snowy, to Florida, where it is warm and
sunny. The climate of California, on the other hand, is more Mediterranean. Due to the lack of
contiguous mountain ranges south of the Rocky Mountains, cold air from the Arctic may migrate
south, affecting Texas and Florida mostly in the winter.
