Fun facts
- One of the most interesting facts about Malta is that they filter drinking water straight from the sea. Since the country has no surface water bodies such as lakes, rivers, or reservoirs, they have to use the ocean as a source of freshwater. Malta uses reverse osmosis to filter the ocean into safe drinking water
- Malta consists of three different islands. Gozo has around 32,000 inhabitants and Comino is almost uninhabited. Both locations are popular for day trips from Malta and offer a different experience than the main island itself. Gozo has some of the best swimming spots in the country with great local food. Comino has the Blue Lagoon and is surrounded by incredible sea caves
- Malta is so close to Italy. On a clear day you can see Sicily from the coast of the island of Gozo. A flight from Malta to the largest island in the Mediterranean Sea takes just 45 minutes and you can also take a ferry
